Studying for the Bar- will take up serious blogging soon after but for now. . .

Check out this blog post by a DC policewoman. Allegedly an agressive driver bumped her while she was riding her bike off duty.  Long story short she whipped out her badge and after some commotion it led to an arrest. Now this woman is calling on area bicyclist to appear at the defendants sentencing hearing so that he can be made an "example" out of. Of course the story is more detailed than just that so I encourage you to check it out at the officers blog: A girl and her bike.

I vehemently disagree with what this woman is trying to do (general deterrence has been shown to be ineffective AND it sacrifices fairness- plus one person should not be punished for the crimes of many, only their own)  and there is a lot here that made made my PD sense tingly- but I thought this was an interesting and amusing read- What do you guys think?

Also, I haven't blogged in a long time- if you are interested in Miranda-custody issues please check out my law review article regarding an upcoming SCOTUS case at on SSRN due to be published this summer in the Journal of Gender Social Policy and the Law (American University).
